I live in France. I find the idea that non-american mental health workers are somehow unconcerned by the evils of modern-day psychiatry quite baffling. I’m not a mental health worker but the question of psychiatry is not one that normal people don’t talk about here. Everyone is concerned in one way or another. We all know people who are are affected in some way. Also we hear about mental health workers’ protests. The pharmaceutical lobby exists here as well. As does dehumanising mainstream psychiatry. The US is not a bubble. It may appear to be at the forefront of the capitalist system but that system is worldwide. Anarchists need to have a worldview even if we (many of us) believe in grassroots, local organisation.

Word Salad is a great zine series on radical mental health from psychiatric survivors. It is mostly personal stories about going through unconsensual hospitalization, trauma treatment, etc. It really gave me a better idea of what we mean when we say “radical mental health.”

Their always on lockdown, it’s hot in tht pit & majority of the population is of Black men.
There were recent deaths of inmates that are going un noticed. Also the inmates aren’t getting proper medical treatment that they need! WAKE UP PEOPLE WHY ARE U ALLOWING THEM TOO KEEP THESE HUMANS IN BONDAGE OF modern SLAVERY?? THOSE BUILDINGS ARE FULL OF BLACK MODE NO A/C it’s in the pits off the Mississippi river and flood waters even flood this prison on several occasions. What is it going to take to close this facility & relocate these inmates? Then the staff wonders why these inmates act out of anger the way they do!
